Raiders should take notes on how Patriots rebuilt offensive line on the fly

Signing one of Patriots prospective free agents would go a long way toward fixing Raiders' OL woes

For as good as Tom Brady is, the most remarkable part of the New England Patriots’ late-season dominance owed to the superior play of their offensive line. The line’s play was even more impressive, when one considers the Patriots replaced both offensive tackles last offseason. In other words, the Patriots were in a spot similar

So which is it? Sign an expensive free agent or attempt to swipe a player maybe being under valued?

If both can be had, worth going all-in and seeing if Kolton Miller earns a starting spot once again. If only one option, look for the player most likely to make the biggest difference. Money shouldn’t be an option for the Raiders when it comes to the offensive line.

It also helps Patriots to have the best, or among the best, offensive line coaches with Dante Scarnecchia.

Second, Brady’s quick release can make offensive lines look great

If Carr had Julian Edelman that would make a big difference.

It’s the coaching. Scarnecchia is one of the best, Cable not so much. Raiders have always played their best as a power-blocking team, poorly as a ZBS team. What separates the Patriots from the Raiders, though, is the stability and continuity of their offensive scheme. McDaniels, OC for eight years. Raiders, four different schemes in five years. You don’t need to be an expert to know which team is more likely to be successful.

In watching the SB, I was amazed that the Rams DL could not get to Brady and the rebuilt Rams OL could not keep Goff protected. That was surprising to me (I don’t really watch either team much). What I learn the most from the Pats is that they always seem to have Plans B and C in place . . . they are good at ID’ing talent and then putting talent in a position to be at their best. Depth . . . Depth . . . Depth. Gruden by overhauling the roster laid to waste any depth the team did have.

Gruden has said he would like to run things and get the same results as the pats.

Well, now he has his chance. He has the final say on everything.

Gruden needs to find talent at all levels of the draft and FA, extract that talent from those players and then win multiple SBs bringing our Raiders back to the top of the nfl.

No excuses and no moral victories. Gruden needs to get this done or he should be considered a complete failure.
